The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), comprising Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban districts, face interconnected challenges, including climate vulnerability, watershed degradation, poverty, limited livelihood opportunities, and inadequate rural infrastructure. Floods, landslides, and other climate-related hazards threaten agricultural production, natural resources, and community well-being, particularly among Small Ethnic Communities.
The Climate Resilient Livelihoods Improvement and Watershed Management in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CRLIWM-CHT) Sector Project, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented through the Government of Bangladesh and CHT institutions, aims to strengthen climate resilience and improve livelihoods through sustainable watershed management, climate-resilient agriculture, rural infrastructure development, skills training, and improved market access. The project also prioritizes gender equality, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Arannayk Foundation, as a sub-consultant to the ERMC–DevConsultants consortium, contributes technical and field-level support in areas aligned with its expertise in ecosystem and watershed management, community-based natural resource management, climate resilience, livelihood development, and community engagement. Through this engagement, Arannayk Foundation supports participatory approaches, sustainable resource management, and community and institutional capacity development to promote resilient livelihoods and environmentally sustainable development across the CHT.
