Project Officer

Arannayk Foundation is going to implement a project titled “Beyond Border: Securing Big Cats and their habitats across Chittagong-Lushai Transboundary Landscape of Bangladesh and India” funded by IUCN under the Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme (ITHCP) to conserve the endangered Indo-Chinese clouded leopard and Leopard across the ecologically significant Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh and the Lushai Hills in Mizoram, India. The duration of the project is 30 months. The main focus of the project is to protect the big cats, restore ecological connectivity, reduce Human-Wildlife Conflicts (HWC), and develop socio-economic resilience, positioning conservation as a shared responsibility for local people and indigenous communities (IPLC).


To implement the project, Arannayk Foundation is seeking four qualified candidates for the position of ‘Project Officer’, two positions will be based in Rangamati and two will based in Bandarban with frequent field visit to the project sites. 


Key Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance from the Executive Director and the Head of Programs and the direct supervision of the Project Manager of Arannayk Foundation, the Project Officer will be part of a diversified team and will be responsible for supporting Arannayk Foundation in conducting field activities of this project. He/She will also work closely with local communities, technical team, and local institutions to support the project planned activities.


The main tasks for this position would be, but not necessarily limited to, the following:


  • Facilitate community-level mobilization and engagement activities for the successful implementation of project interventions.
  • Organize and conduct community meetings, consultations, focus group discussions, and awareness campaigns, ensuring active participation of women, Indigenous Peoples, and marginalized groups.
  • Support the formation, strengthening, and capacity building of community groups, and women’s groups, Indigenous people and local community for the management of project interventions.
  • Assist project team for the inclusion of Indigenous knowledge, gender equality, and social inclusion principles in community planning and decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the coordination and logistical arrangements for training, workshops, exchange visits, and cross-learning events at the community level.
  • Support data collection and monitoring activities (e.g., attendance, feedback, simple surveys, observations) and ensure timely reporting of field progress and issues.
  • Promote ownership and sustainability of project activities through continuous engagement with local stakeholders and institutions.
  • Assist in documenting success stories, challenges, lessons learned, and case studies from the field. 
  • Assist Project Manager in developing donor reports, dashboards, and data briefs that clearly communicate project progress, results, and learning by providing field information. 
  • Follow Arannayk Foundation’s compliance for implementing any activities. 
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Executive Director, Head of Programs, Project Lead and Project Manager as and when required. 


POSITION SPECIFICATION – Project Officer


Qualifications & Experience required for the position


Formal/Academic Education


Master’s or Bachelor's or Diploma in any discipline. 


Working experience


  • Bachelor's or Diploma in any discipline with at least one year of professional experience. 
    • Proven experience working directly with rural communities, Indigenous Peoples, and marginalized groups in participatory development programs.
    • Experience in community mobilization, facilitation of meetings, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building activities.
    • Experience in data collection using GPS and other field-based monitoring tools.
    • Direct field experience working with community people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), particularly with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs).
  • Having Master’s degree in natural resource management-related subjects without experience can apply.

  • One year (1st January 2026-31st December 2026) with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational requirements.
